Act Like You Just Started Dating

Date Night Idea: “Act Like You Just Started Dating”

Here’s the challenge:

For one night, you’re not a tired married couple with history and baggage.

You’re two people on a first date.

The Rules:

  • No talking about kids.

  • No finances.

  • No logistics.

  • No “we need to talk.”

  • No old arguments.

You’re only allowed to ask curiosity questions like:

  • “What’s something you’ve always wanted to try?”

  • “What’s a memory from your childhood that shaped you?”

  • “If we met today, what would you notice about me first?”

  • “What’s something you admire about me that I probably don’t see?”

Go somewhere you don’t usually go.

Sit next to each other instead of across.

Make eye contact like you used to.

Why This Works

Emotional reactions often come from familiarity and assumptions.

When you step back into curiosity, you interrupt the automatic tension, and you stop reacting to who they were yesterday…
and start seeing who they are right now.
